Battery and coolant labeling

For the labeling of device-, vehicle- and industrial batteries and rechargeable batteries certain provisions apply in Germany. The labels must show different details about the manufacturer identification, capacity, performance, and contained hazardous substances as well as information about the correct disposal. The labeling for battery and coolant must remain legible and stick securely for the whole product life circle even under extreme temperatures. For the labeling of lithium-ion batteries the statutory regulations in accordance with ADR 2021 (Agreement concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road) apply for the size of the label.

The key features of labels for batteries and coolants

  • High resistance for exterior use and in areas of chemicals and solvents
  • High abrasion resistance with suitable thermal transfer ribbons for the thermal transfer printing
  • Suitable for the standard-compliant labeling like e.g. provisions for the carriage of dangerous goods by road (ADR), carriage by rail (RID) and for the transport on inland waterways (ADN)
  • Very high adhesive power of the labels also on difficult substrates and under extreme temperatures
  • Optimization of processes due to the automation of material and product flow
  • Additional safety functions like e.g. security cut-outs possible
  • Over 500 special materials by Avery, 3M, Flexcon, and Tesa available from stock
  • Battery and coolant labeling in individual formats and special forms

Functions and advantages – precisely tailored to your requirements for the labeling

  • Informs about individual production data
  • Functional and in conformity with provisions
  • Acid resistant and temperature stable
  • Long-living even under mechanical abrasion
  • Permanently legible
  • Safe adhesion even under high and low temperatures
  • Waterproof and insensitive against soiling
  • Serialization with numbers and codes as well as subsequent inscription with thermal transfer printing possible

The labels for batteries and coolants offer the best possible flexibility and will be adjusted individually to the customer’s requirements. This happens by using suitable special materials of leading manufacturers, individual die-cutting forms and premium adhesives.

The labels can be inscribed directly as required in variable amounts with current data at the site, by that the storage and the management of numerous labels may be dropped.

Our upscale and accurate processing with most modern die-cutting technologies guarantees the highest precision and reliability for the label application. Thus even labels with adhesives which are difficult to process can be processed mechanically very well, which increases the user efficiency in the long term.

Frequently Asked Questions

The typical labeling products are hazmat labels, warning labels, transport labels, barcode labels, type plates, rating plates, caution labels. These labels can be applied on batteries, rechargeable batteries, other energy storage devices and electronical parts for example in the following branches and areas:

  • Mechanical engineering (engines, machines and machine tools)
  • Electric tools construction (tools, home appliances etc.)
  • Car manufacturing (OEM´s, supplier)
  • Vehicle construction (public transport, freight transport, ships and train construction)
  • Medical products (active, non-active and products with measuring function)
  • Chemical industry

Material composites, adhesive-free zones as well as partially preprinted logotypes are also possible. Additionally, transparent spaces for charge indication or strong and high adhesive structures can be realized to cover switch function and/or to trigger it.

  • Temperature resistance from +150° C (302° F) to -40°C (-40°F)
  • UV- and weather resistant foils up to max. 5 years
  • Very thin (min. 6µ) as well as very thick (175µ) combinations of foils are possible
  • High-performance materials made of acrylate-foil, polyimide foil, aluminum foil and polyester (PET)
  • Permanent adhesives with a very good adhesive power for high- and low-energy substrates
  • Customized materials with e.g. colored adhesives are possible (pantone or RAL colors)
  • Diverse carrier materials like compressed kraft paper in different thicknesses, transparent plastic liner, kraft paper siliconized on both sides, and environmentally stable kraft paper available
  • Subsequently inscribable with thermal transfer printing and ink jet method
  • Foil features are from soft and smooth and stretchy to stable and tear-proof

As a manufacturer robos-labels has a wide range of already approved and certified labeling and material solutions. When additional customized licenses are required, we can take on the approval- and certification process if desired.

We also cover the first article inspections (PPF, production process and product release) in accordance with the specifications of German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA) as well as the American counterpart, a PPAP inspection (Production Part Approval Process) of the AIAG (Automotive Industry Action Group).
