Overpressure protection labels for the pressure balance of internal overpressure

These functional labels cover the openings of parts and devices and seal those against foreign objects and humidity. In case of high pressure build-up in the device – for example in case of heavy load or heat development – a pressure balance must be ensured to avoid the damage of device or, even worse, the injuries of the user. For that purpose the suitable labels will be adjusted in form, materiality and adhesive construction to their application, so they detach exactly at the right moment and within the defined pressure scope. By detaching at the right moment the air can escape under control and it will be for example prevented that a pane breaks in the device and the user will be injured. Thus the labels with overpressure protection will be also often called pressure compensating elements.

The main features of the labels for overpressure control

  • Safe sealing of the device- and parts openings due to water- and temperature resistant raw materials
  • Reliable detaching within a defined pressure scope
  • High resistance outdoors and in contact with chemicals and solvents
  • Very good adhesive power also on difficult substrates
  • Optimization of the processes by automation of material- and product flow
  • Numerous special materials by Avery, 3M, Flexcon, and Tesa available from stock
  • Labels in individual formats and special forms

Functions and advantages – precisely tailored to your requirements for the labeling

The labels with overpressure protection offer the most possible flexibility and will be tailored individually to customer’s requirement. This happens by suitable special materials by leading manufacturers, individual die-cuts and premium adhesives.

Some of the materials to be labeled are pretreated when the labels shall be adhered. Additionally, other products can have a very rough or dusty or slightly oily surface, which can be safely labeled with matching adhesives.

Our upscale and accurate processing with most modern die-cutting technologies guarantees the highest precision and reliability for the label application. Thus even plain labels with adhesives which are difficult to process can be processed mechanically very well, which increases the user efficiency in the long term.

Frequently Asked Questions

These labels can be applied for example in the following branches and areas:

  • Mechanical engineering (engines, machines and machine tools)
  • Electric tools engineering (tools, compressors etc.)
  • Car manufacturing (pressure elements, measuring engineering)
  • Vehicle construction (public transport, freight transport, ships and train construction)
  • Medical products (active, non-active and products with measuring function)
  • Chemical industry (devices, plants)

The labels for overpressure protection must detach within the defined pressure scope during the burst testing on the one hand. Until then the pressure compensating elements must adhere reliably and seal the device completely. Here they partially must fulfil high IP (internal protection) degree of protection, which describe the housing protection of a device against the intrusion of water and foreign bodies. The protection degrees are indicated by two digits (e.g. IP67), where the first digit describes the protection against touch and foreign bodies and the second digit the protection against water. In the previous example the protection degree IP67 must be dust proof and warrant a submerging test of 30 minutes under water without the intrusion of humidity. For that purpose the adhesive will be adjusted exactly to the surface to be labeled, the environment as well as the test requirements.

Moreover, material composites, partially preprinted logotypes, and adhesive-free zones are also possible. The last will be usually applied to achieve the optimum balance between the high adhesive power and impermeability and the release within the correct pressure scope.

  • Temperature resistance from +150° C (302° F) C to -40° C (-40° F)
  • Very thin (min. 6µ) as well as very thick (200µ) combinations of foils possible
  • High performance materials made from acrylate and polyimide foils, and polyester (PET)
  • Permanent hybrid adhesives with a very good adhesive power for high- and low-energy substrates
  • Diverse carrier materials like compressed kraft paper in different thicknesses, transparent plastic liner, kraft paper siliconized on both sides, and environmentally stable kraft paper available
  • Subsequently inscribable with thermal transfer printing
  • Foil features are stable and tear-proof
