Insights into Current Trends in Labeling Technology
Innovation thrives where knowledge meets practical application – which is exactly why robos-labels’ participation in the Avery Dennison Label College 2025 in Schwelm was such a valuable experience. From June 4 to 5, 2025, three of our specialists from Research & Development, Quality Management, and Purchasing attended the two-day event at Avery’s newly opened site.
In addition to in-depth exchanges with other label printing companies, the event offered rich technical insights into modern materials, digital solutions, and sustainable developments in industrial labeling. The participation of Dr. Tasmin Reuter, Christos Emmanuil, and Anja Rubin highlights our commitment to supporting our customers with up-to-date expertise and practical solutions.
Approximately 30 professionals were present – including many long-standing industry partners. The goal: to learn from one another, to better understand new developments, and to jointly advance future topics such as sustainability, digitization, and customized material solutions.

A particular highlight was the opportunity to meet our key contacts at Avery Dennison in person – one of our most important suppliers. In addition to technical presentations and workshops, the evening program – including a visit to the Visiodrom in Wuppertal – provided an inspiring close to the day in a very special atmosphere.
In-Depth Training – robos-labels Uses Avery Label College to Prepare for the Future
This year’s Avery Dennison Label College delivered a high-caliber training program over two packed days for professionals in the label industry. Our three representatives – Dr. Tasmin Reuter (R&D), Christos Emmanuil (Quality Management), and Anja Rubin (Purchasing) – took the opportunity to explore modern labeling films in depth and engage directly with Avery’s technical and sales experts.
Topics included:
- Material analyses and application testing in the brand-new laboratory at the Schwelm site – including the identification of a real customer sample
- Training on sustainable alternatives to standard materials, particularly regarding Design4Recycling, the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR), and the use of recycled content to reduce material use
- Innovative customer projects using the “Mix & Match” approach to develop individualized constructions for small batch sizes
- A current overview of RFID technology and its integration in label production
To reinforce the knowledge gained, each training station concluded with a short test – an effective way to anchor the content in practice.
“Personally, I found the direct contact with Avery Dennison’s sales and lab teams extremely valuable – the exchange significantly advanced many topics,” said Anja Rubin. “The conversations with other label printers, particularly about sustainable material alternatives, were also very inspiring.”
The program concluded with a memorable evening event: participants visited the Visiodrom, a former gas holder transformed into a unique venue featuring an immersive Van Gogh exhibition, followed by a group dinner in the heart of Wuppertal.
Our colleagues return with fresh input, new contacts, and enhanced expertise – ready to channel their insights directly into exciting new projects at robos-labels.
