On April 18th and 19th, 2023, 11 robos-labels employees visited the site of Avery Dennison in Luxembourg. Avery Dennison is considered one of the five largest suppliers of raw materials to robos-labels. Employees from sales department, marketing, purchasing, and quality management joined the journey to see the manufacturing and the handling of the jumbo rolls live. The managing partners Simon Reuter and Daniel Sugg were also on board.
The robos-labels team was warmly welcomed at the site in Luxembourg by Kerstin Pape (Application Engineer) and Veit Hoppe (Technical Sales Specialist).
The program on the first day included, along with a general Durabel label training, a presentation on UL certifications and special features in the area of thermal transfer printing in the segment of permanent labeling. Here, interesting details from everyday life were discussed, which enabled the clarification of specific questions. The first day ended with a cozy dinner together, where also snails could be ordered.
The second day started with a site tour in laboratory and production, during which Matteo Ponchione, Quality Manager at Avery Dennison, explained all areas of production in detail. Over 500 of the worldwide 35 000 employees of Avery Dennison work at the Luxembourg site on 5 coating lines and 30 cutting lines in total.
This was followed by presentations on special adhesives and specifications in the automotive industry, as well as on label materials that are used specifically in the outdoor area. The colleagues from the Supply Chain and Quality Management departments finished the day with a supplier audit.
The team of robos-labels was impressed by the size of the manufacturing site, the amount of the daily processed adhesives and coatings, the machines and lines as well as the high automation degree in production and logistics. The meeting on site was a nice possibility to get to know each other in a relaxing atmosphere and to exchange a lot of information.
Robos-labels would like to thank Avery Dennison, especially Mrs. Pape and Mr. Hoppe, for this successful event and the opportunity to experience the production of important raw materials at first hand.
