Label flammability in accordance with FMVSS 302 standard (Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards)

The FMVSS 302 standard refers to the combustion behavior of materials, which will be used in the street vehicles like passenger cars, trucks, buses, and farm machines. This also includes labeling products which will be used in the vehicle interior. The US federal regulation has been developed to avoid injuries and cases of death which may be caused by negligently disposed smoldering cigarettes and matches. Most automotive manufacturers evaluate the flammability in accordance with FMVSS 302 or technically comparable standards of the respective OEM. For the examination of the labels – as a separate material and/or adhered to the original part – a mandatory testing procedure is necessary, which we offer in cooperation with our material suppliers.
