Cryo-labels for low temperatures

The labels for cryogenic applications and sterilization are high-performance laboratory labels, which were developed especially for the application at extremely low temperatures and under harsh conditions. The material resistance in the cooling chain is highly important for the labeling of biological and pharmaceutical products like e.g. blood- and tissue-specimen or vaccines. The labels are highly resistant in contact with chemicals and adhere reliably to difficult substrates. They offer safe identification for the whole application circle and are subsequently inscribable with thermal transfer printing.

The main features

  • Can be adhered and are resistant at low temperatures
  • Resistant in warm water bath (bain marie), during the sterilization in the autoclave and in contact with disinfectants, liquid nitrogen, and dry ice
  • The labeling withstand numerous freezing-defrosting cycles
  • Good adhesive power and reliable adhesion on substrates inclusively polypropylene, glass, PVC, and steel
  • The label materials are compatible with numerous different printing methods
  • Excellent elasticity and formability of the labels
  • High resistance in contact with chemicals and solvents
  • High abrasion resistance and reliable legibility with suitable thermal transfer ribbons
  • Suitable for standard-compliant labeling lie e.g. FDA etc.
  • Very high adhesive power also on difficult substrates
  • Optimization of the processes by automation of material- and product flow
  • Additional safety functions like security cutouts are possible
  • Numerous special materials by Avery, 3M, Flexcon, and Tesa available from stock
  • Plain labels in individual formats and special forms

Functions and advantages

  • Explicit identification of biological agents, biobank products and blood components
  • Suitable for convex surfaces and small radii
  • Safe labeling reduces the risk of mix-ups caused by the detaching of the labels
  • Unlimited visibility of products in transparent packaging (with transparent upper material)
  • Protection of the product is guaranteed during the whole supply chain from the manufacturer to the patient

The labels offer the best possible flexibility and will be adjusted individually to the customer’s requirements. This happens by using suitable special materials by leading manufacturers, individual die-cutting forms and premium adhesives.

The labels can be inscribed directly as required in variable amounts with current data at the site, by that the storage and the management of numerous labels may be reduced or dropped.

Some products to be labeled can be very cold and/or moist and can be safely labeled with matching adhesives.

Our upscale and accurate processing with most modern die-cutting technologies guarantees the highest precision and reliability for the application of labels. Thus even plain labels with adhesives which are difficult to process can be processed mechanically very well, which increases the user efficiency in the long term.

Frequently Asked Questions

These labeling products will be applied in the pharmacy, in hospitals, medical institutes, laboratories and bio banking. The labels for low temperatures can be adhered to bottles, test tubes, ampullas, capillary, tubes, Petri dishes, vials, syringes and tubules, phials, aluminum canisters and further demanding surfaces.

In biobanks the following substances will be labeled:

  • Blood- and plasma bags and serum
  • Storage of reproductive tissue
  • Stem cells, frozen cells and tissue
  • Tissue cultures, DNA and RNA
  • Umbilical cord blood and stem cells

In the pharmacy and in deep-freeze-applications in hospitals the labels for low temperatures will be applied for the identification of:

  • Vaccines
  • Medicaments
  • Injection solutions

Cryo-labels in stock farming:

  • Storage of reproductive tissue for artificial insemination

Also adhesive-free zones and partially preprinted logotypes are possible.

  • Temperature resistance from +120° C (248° F) C to -196° C (-320.8° F)
  • Very thin (minimum 6µ) combinations of foils possible
  • High-performance materials made of polypropylene (PP)
  • Permanent adhesives with a very good adhesive power for high- and low-energy substrates
  • Customized materials with e.g. colored adhesives possible (pantone or RAL colors)
  • Diverse carrier materials like compressed kraft paper in different thicknesses, transparent plastic liner, kraft paper siliconized on both sides, and environmentally stable kraft paper available
  • Subsequently inscribable with thermal transfer printing method
  • Foil features soft and smooth, stretchy and stable

As a manufacturer robos-labels has a wide range of already approved and certified labeling solutions. When additional customized licenses are required, we can take on the approval- and certification process if desired.

We already meet the following standards and regulations with our raw materials:
